As a Divemaster, you not only come to diving often, but it is also a pleasure to see how others enjoy diving as much as you do.

The PADI Divemaster course is the first stage of your professional training. In close collaboration with your PADI Instructor, you will work on fine-tuning your diving skills, for example to float effortlessly in the water, and you will optimize your rescue skills so that you can anticipate and easily solve common diving problems. You will acquire knowledge of diving theory as well as management and supervision skills, which will make you a role model for other divers.

As a PADI Divemaster, you will guide and guide divers by exercising supervision over them and assisting in their diving training. Whether you want to work in a distant area or prefer closer to a local dive center, the adventure of a lifetime is waiting for you. PADI Divemasters are widely respected diving professionals who belong to the world's largest and most respected diving organization - PADI.

PADI Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years old can register for a PADI Divemaster course. You will also need:

• At least 40 logged dives to start the course, 60 dives to receive the PADI Divemaster certification.

• Proof of participation in the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (EFR primary care and secondary care) courses within the past 24 months.

• A medical certificate signed by a doctor and not older than 12 months.

Please note that qualifying certificates can be recognized by other diving training organizations - ask your PADI instructor.

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you everything a leader in diving needs to know and be able to take responsibility for the activities of certified divers. You will learn the knowledge and skills for this in lessons to develop your knowledge, in practical water lessons and workshops and in various assessments. Topics and practical workshops are:

• Role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster

• Supervision of general diving skills for certified divers and assistance in the training of divers

• Diving safety and risk management

• Programs and special skills that can be carried out independently by the Divemaster

• Diving as a business and your career

• Awareness of the concerns of the underwater world

• Organization and management of a dive site

• Make a map of the dive site

• Conducting briefings

• Organization of search-and-mountain scenarios and a deep dive

• Implementation of the ReActivate program and supervision in the Skin Diver course

• Assisting with the Discover Scuba Diving program and implementing the Discover Local Diving program

Your instructor can also offer you the PADI specialty courses PADI Deep Diver and Search and Recovery Diver together with your training as a Divemaster to help you meet all requirements and expand your skills.

You may get a college credit for the Divemaster course - ask your PADI instructor.

As a diving professional you need your own diving equipment , including diving computer , diving knife and at least two surface signaling devices . For the practical exercises, such as making an underwater map or searching and recovering, you need a compass, buoyancy device, marker buoys, lifting bags and underwater writing boards. Your PADI Instructor can suggest additional equipment that will be useful to you during your diving career.

Get advice from your local PADI diving center about what equipment you need as a diving professional.

One option is that you study the Divemaster Manual and watch the Divemaster video (book and DVD are available as a package). Visit your local PADI Dive Center or Resort to register for the course and take your Divemaster Crew-Pak with you, which includes other reference materials - such as the PADI Instructor Manual and The Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving - that you can use during your Course.

Consider participating in Dive Theory Online ( Dive Theory Online ), another PADI eLearning® program that guides you step by step through the areas of diving physics, diving physiology, diving skills, diving equipment and diving environment and also a repetition of the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) includes. By successfully completing Dive Theory Online, you can count towards half of the written Divemaster final exam. Your PADI Instructor can explain to you how this works when you meet with him to discuss the dates for theoretical lessons, water work, workshops and various assessments with you.
